The Baden Wine Queen is on duty around 200 days a year. Now the successor to Katrin Lang is being sought. It’s not the only royal vine job to hand out.

Freiburg (dpa/lsw) – On Friday (from 3 p.m.) the Baden Winegrowers Association will select the new Baden wine sovereigns for the 2022/23 office year. A jury of experts chooses the 72nd Baden Wine Queen and her entourage in the Freiburg Concert Hall. The incumbent is winemaker Katrin Lang from Markgräflerland. Victoria Lorenz from Ortenau and Michaela Wille from Tauberfranken are the reigning wine princesses.

The Baden wine sovereigns have been elected since 1950. According to the association, women with an industry background, such as oenology students, winegrowers or women from a winegrowing family, can apply. The Wine Queen then opens, for example, larger wine festivals, can be booked for wine tastings and is intended to advertise the nine Baden wine-growing areas throughout Germany, abroad and on social networks. According to the information, around 200 days of use come together.
