Gschwend (dpa / lsw) – Because he probably confused the forward with the reverse gear, a 78-year-old driver dragged his wife with the open car door. The 72-year-old was seriously injured, police said on Saturday. A rescue helicopter flew them to a clinic.
According to the investigation, the man wanted to turn in a meadow in Gschwend (Ostalbkreis) on Friday. His passenger got out and stood on the driver’s side as the 78-year-old backed the car. The open driver’s door tore the wife. A police spokesman could not initially say how far the man drove. “The confused and shocked driver must now be checked to see whether he is still able to drive a motor vehicle safely,” the police said.
