Offenburg (dpa / lsw) – An 80-year-old cyclist was hit by a regional train in Lautenbach in the Ortenau district and fatally injured. As the police announced, the senior crossed an unrestricted level crossing intended for pedestrians on Tuesday afternoon with his bicycle. The driver of the train gave a warning signal – but the 80-year-old could not react in time and was hit by the regional train. An expert was commissioned by the public prosecutor’s office in Offenburg to precisely reconstruct the accident. During the accident recording, the B28 and the railway line were completely closed.
