Neidlingen (dpa / lsw) – fermentation gases have led to the death of a 75-year-old man in his distillery in Neidlingen (Esslingen district). A police spokeswoman said on Thursday. Officials assume that the victim’s wife wanted to come to her husband’s aid, but then lost consciousness herself. According to the spokeswoman, the 74-year-old is still in the hospital, but is in stable condition. Now it has to be clarified how the high concentration of fermentation gases came about in the distillery.
Firefighters found the seniors on Wednesday afternoon in the basement of the house where the 75-year-old’s distillery is located. At that time, the two were already unresponsive, the police said. Residents had alerted the police and reported that the man and his 74-year-old wife needed urgent medical attention.
