Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The State Criminal Police Office of Baden-Württemberg wants to help more radicalized people and their relatives to leave the scene. A social media campaign worth 100,000 euros has been online since Friday: With photos and advertising clips on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, the State Criminal Police Office wants people in the vicinity of religious or political extremists to be aware of the advice offered by the Competence Center Against Extremism (“konex”) make.

“We have to become better known,” said Anna-Katharina Kirsch, managing director of “konex” on Friday in Stuttgart. Counselors are often told: “If I had known you existed, I would have come to you much earlier.” Since most people look for information on the Internet, the advertising campaign was designed for social media.

The “konex” team advises various target groups, both people with an extremist background and their relatives and specialists who deal with the topic of extremism in their profession. According to its own statements, “konex” has so far dealt with around 100 processes a year and accompanied a low double-digit number of dropouts. The advertising campaign should increase it.
