Pforzheim (dpa / lsw) – After the death of a seven-year-old skateboarder, the city of Pforzheim takes a close look at the accident site. A spokesman said on Friday that as terrible and unfortunate as the accident was, the residential area there is considered to be just as safe as other comparable residential areas. “The playground is also separated from the street. Nevertheless, all departments involved are looking at the situation on site again from the perspective of whether something can be improved.”

The SWR had previously reported that residents claimed that the city had not adequately secured the sidewalk to the adjacent street. The boy was hit by a car on October 19 and died. The child was lying on a skateboard on the sidewalk in a new development area in the Haidach district and got onto the street, the police said. There he collided with a passing car. The boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
