Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Train drivers have to be patient on the Rhine track to the south until Tuesday night. Because construction work near Müllheim (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district) took longer than planned, the route for local and long-distance traffic between Freiburg and Basel was more affected, said a spokeswoman. From Bad Krozingen, the section can only be used on one track. ICE trains from Cologne to Switzerland only went to Karlsruhe on Monday. “Remaining DB long-distance trains are delayed between Freiburg and Basel,” said the railway spokeswoman. According to the current forecast, the construction work would be completed on Tuesday night.
On Monday morning, the route was initially completely closed due to the construction site to the south. Until the morning, only individual buses had been used as rail replacement services.
