Rottweil (dpa / lsw) – A man is due to appear in court today on charges of murder, attempted murder and particularly serious arson. According to the indictment, the 38-year-old is said to have set fire to the house in which he, his brother and his mother lived with petrol in order to kill his brother and mother. The 72-year-old mother later succumbed to her injuries. His brother survived with serious injuries.

The alleged perpetrator is said to have fled after the crime in Horb on March 29th. The German was caught by the police a few days later because a woman had noticed a car on a road near Marxzell (Karlsruhe district) – about 80 kilometers from the crime scene. The witness had read the manhunt for the 38-year-old and his car and informed the police. When they checked, officers found the man in the car. Despite severe burn injuries, he was responsive.

A total of seven days of negotiations are scheduled for the process. The accused has been in custody since April 1. Another charge against the defendant for possession of images containing child pornography and youth pornography is pending in the district court and may be linked to this case, a court spokesman said.
