Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) – The so-called climate stickers do the protest for climate protection from the point of view of the former constitutional judge Paul Kirchhof. “The young demonstrators have done a lot for climate protection, but are now discrediting their own concerns,” Kirchhof told the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung (Monday).
He recently spoke to some demonstrators who paralyzed traffic on the freeway. “They said they had to choose this path to illegality because nobody else would listen to them. This statement is alarming,” said the former constitutional law professor at the University of Heidelberg in an interview on the occasion of his 80th birthday this Tuesday.
It is about the basic social consensus to solve conflicts in speech and counter-speech – solely in linguistic disputes – said Kirchhof. “If someone who believes that they are not being heard enough in these talks resorts to violence, they leave the path of free democracy and take the first step towards a dictatorship that claims to know the truth.”
