Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Due to a defect in eight vehicles on the Stuttgart S-Bahn, trains on various lines will only be running to a limited extent from Monday. According to its own statements on Friday, the railway is working on a solution with the manufacturer Alstom to repair the newly ordered and partly delivered series 430 trains. The new vehicles are prone to failure and cannot be connected to the trains of the same series that have been in use since 2013 to compensate for the failure of the eight old vehicles.
The S3 Backnang-Stuttgart-Vaihingen S-Bahn line will run every half hour from Monday until May 1, 2023. For this purpose, the railway uses, among other things, the vehicles intended for the S62 Weil der Stadt-Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Therefore, the S62 fails in the same period. The aim is a 15-minute cycle on the S3 line.
Alstom has currently handed over 43 of the 58 newly ordered vehicles to the S-Bahn Stuttgart.
