Dreieich (dpa/lhe) – After months of investigation, the police tracked down a motorcycle racer who fled from the officers at over 250 kilometers per hour in October last year. During a search of the suspect’s apartment in Dreieich (Offenbach district), the investigators also found drugs, banned performance-enhancing substances and cash in the lower five-digit range, the police said on Friday.
The 39-year-old is said to have repeatedly overtaken other vehicles on the right over a longer stretch on Autobahn 3 in October 2022 and not kept the minimum distance. He also endangered other road users with so-called wheelies at much too high a speed.
When a police patrol then wanted to control the speeder, he is said to have accelerated his machine to well over 250 kilometers per hour and fled from the officers on the A 661. The police had to stop the chase because of the dangerously high speed, which allowed the motorcyclist to escape.
Numerous testimonies and video recordings would have led the investigators to the 39-year-old months later. During a search of his apartment on Thursday, the police also found the motorcycle and the motorcycle clothing worn during the crime, in addition to the prohibited substances and cash.
