Villingen-Schwenningen (dpa / lsw) – After the fatal parachute jump of a 15-year-old in the Black Forest, the investigators assume that the young people made a control error. “Everything clearly indicates that she made a mistake during the landing approach,” said a police spokesman on Wednesday. Shortly before landing, she reportedly had a tailwind and therefore tried to fly a turn at the last moment in order to put the wing against the wind. During this process, the young pilot hit the ground.
Among other things, her flight instructor, who landed shortly before her, immediately rushed to help the 15-year-old on Saturday, as the spokesman said. She was resuscitated, but died later that day in a hospital.
According to the German Skydiving Association, young people in Germany can start practical skydiving training at the age of 14. After passing the exam, they get their license at the age of 16.
According to the police spokesman, the girl who had an accident had been jumping alone for around a year and completed around 40 solo jumps as part of her training. The investigators rule out a technical defect on the screen because it opened normally and could be controlled normally.
