Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Last year in Baden-Württemberg, fewer young people were treated in hospital for alcohol abuse than in 2020. A total of 1453 children and young people aged 13 to 19 years were hospitalized because of an alcohol-related illness, according to the State Statistical Office on Thursday with This was 111 fewer treatments than in 2020.
Treatment for alcohol consumption among young people has been declining for several years. According to the evaluation, however, the decline in inpatient stays was greater for boys than for girls.
Alcohol-related hospital treatments are mostly treatments due to acute intoxication. In 2021, “acute intoxication” was the diagnosis in 83 percent of all alcohol-related hospitalizations among 13- to 19-year-olds.
