Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) – Defender Daniel Gordon from the second division soccer club Karlsruher SC is expected to end his career in the summer. “There is a strong tendency towards it being my last season,” said the 37-year-old to the news portal “ka-news.de” (Saturday). Officially, a final decision has not yet been made.
“It will be extremely difficult for me to say goodbye. I make no secret of it. Otherwise I would not have played for so long,” said Gordon. “But: I’m also looking forward to what lies ahead. I want to stay in football and I see my future in coaching.” The defender is currently already working as an assistant coach for the U17s of the KSC.
Gordon wants to make the most of his final sprint as an active professional. “I’m happy and I want to enjoy the coming months. I’m consciously taking everything with me,” said the veteran, who is fighting to stay in the league with the Badeners. “I try to push the boys, to help them, to give them security so that we can reach the big goal together.”
With the interruption of the 2016/2017 season, which he spent with league rivals SV Sandhausen, Gordon has been playing for KSC since 2012. He has made six competitive appearances so far this season. His contract runs until June 30, 2023.
