Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – According to a newspaper report, the number of organ donors (excluding living donors) in Baden-Württemberg increased last year. According to the German Foundation for Organ Transplantation, a total of 122 people donated their organs after their death from January to November 2022, as “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” and “Stuttgarter Zeitung” (Saturday) reported. In the previous year there were 103 organ donors in the same period. 352 organs were transplanted last year: 35 hearts, 49 lungs, 184 kidneys, 83 livers and one pancreas.
Compared to the other federal states, Baden-Württemberg is in second place behind North Rhine-Westphalia (159) and ahead of Bavaria (116). In Germany, however, the number of organ donors has decreased: by November 2022 there were 796 organ donors. In the same period last year there were 856 donors.
