Heilbronn (dpa/lsw) – In the trial for an attempted murder with denatured alcohol, a woman from Freudental (Ludwigsburg district) was sentenced to five and a half years in prison on Tuesday. According to the conviction of the district court in Heilbronn, the 41-year-old insidiously poured the liquid on an acquaintance in her apartment last October and lit it with a lighter. According to his own description, the victim was “blazing ablaze”. The public prosecutor’s office had asked for a seven-year prison sentence before the 1st Circuit Court of Assizes, but the defense had pleaded for an acquittal.

When the woman attacked, the neighbor suffered severe second and third degree burns to his head, neck and torso. He will be scarred forever. The defense had described the events of that night as a fateful accident, and that there was no motive for the Germans to deliberately attack. However, the 52-year-old victim described an attack in detail in his statement. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
