In Baden-Württemberg, fireworks accessories can again be bought in stores. After two years without firecrackers and rockets, there should be a bang for many people at the end of the year. However, the authorities warn that this can also be expensive, loud and painful.
Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – After two years without firecrackers, dealers in Baden-Württemberg will start selling fireworks for New Year’s Eve again this Thursday. This had been banned in the previous two years to relieve hospitals during the peak of the corona pandemic. This year, the federal government left the decision on this to the cities and municipalities. The Association of the Pyrotechnic Industry (VPI) expects sales of around 120 million euros – as much as before the pandemic. However, several cities such as Stuttgart, Tübingen, Karlsruhe, Calw and Villingen have again set up no firecracker zones.
