Getting excited about climate protection with intelligent technology: A group of environmental activists is making its first stop in the south-west with a small, regeneratively operated house.

Reutlingen (dpa/lsw) – More attention to climate protection: With a solar-powered house, a group led by Swiss environmental activist Louis Palmer wants to draw attention to climate change and the need to take countermeasures. From Switzerland, the futuristic structure is on a tour around the world and on Tuesday (10:00 a.m.) it will stop in Reutlingen for the first time in Baden-Württemberg.

The small house christened “Solar Butterfly” resembles a butterfly on the outside and is equipped with solar panels all around. The approximately 30 square meters of living space are fully equipped with a kitchen, toilet, shower and water supply. All of this is powered by solar energy. According to the makers, the small house can also be transported over a distance of more than 200 kilometers with the energy generated in this way. The environmentally friendly butterfly was developed by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland.

During the visit to Reutlingen, those who are interested can take a look at the mobile house and discover the technology behind it. The next stops in the country are Calw (Wednesday) and Böblingen (Thursday). The entire route of the project will cover 25,000 kilometers and five continents. The target is scheduled for December 12, 2025 in Paris: the 10th anniversary of the UN climate agreement. Project initiator Louis Palmer has already completed a similar project. In 2008 he drove around the world in a solar car.
