Stuttgart/Heilbronn (dpa/lsw) – The state wants to close the dead spots in the 5G network faster and make it easier to build cellphone masts. For this purpose, the state building code should be changed in three points, as the two government factions of the Greens and CDU of the “Heilbronner Voice” and the “Südkurier” (Thursday) confirmed.

In order to accelerate the expansion of the mobile network, it should be possible to set up higher antenna systems in the future without the need for a procedure. This means that no building permit needs to be obtained beforehand. The maximum height of these systems should be 15 meters in built-up areas and up to 20 meters outside. So far, only antenna systems up to a height of ten meters can be erected without a procedure.

In addition, the distance rule from mobile phone masts to buildings should be changed. Here the so-called calculation factor should be reduced from 0.4 to 0.2. So far, for example, antennas had to be four meters away from a ten meter high building. In the future it will be two meters. Third, cell phone providers can set up temporary systems for up to two years as long as they don’t have a permanent location.

The newspapers also report that according to current figures from the Federal Network Agency, 4G coverage in the area of ??Baden-Württemberg is around 95 percent. With the changes to the state building regulations, the 5G standard in particular should be further implemented, with which an area of ??almost 50 percent has so far been covered in the south-west. The government intends to deal with the bill in the near future.
