Aalen (dpa / lsw) – Because of fruit flies in the building, the central operating room of the Ostalb Clinic in Aalen (Ostalbkreis) is currently closed. Two of the flies were found in an office, which is why the central operating room will remain closed until further notice, a spokesman said on Tuesday.
In the previous week, the fruit flies had already been found in the operating room itself, leading to the operating room being closed for several days. They are still looking for the breeding ground for the fruit flies, the spokesman said. “We hope to find this in the coming days and then to be able to release the central operating room again.”
According to the information, between 20 and 25 operations have to be postponed or relocated every day because of the incident. The clinics in Ellwangen and Mutlangen (Ostalbkreis) therefore help to absorb these surgeries.
