Biberach/Heidelberg (dpa/lsw) – Falling sheets of ice have caused danger on the roads in the southwest. A plate broke off a truck on Autobahn 5 near Heidelberg on Monday and hit the windshield of a car behind it. The 55-year-old driver drove to a nearby rest area with the broken window. According to their own information on Tuesday, the police have started investigations into a traffic accident escape against the truck driver.
On Monday, several sheets of ice from an oncoming car crashed into the front window of a truck near Biberach. In both cases there was damage of around 1500 euros each. In the event of accidents with ice sheets, the person responsible faces a fine of up to 120 euros and a point in Flensburg or a criminal complaint.
