The man was a trainee in a vehicle technology company in southern Baden. Now he is on trial as a suspected arsonist. The public prosecutor’s office gives a clear motive in their indictment.
Freiburg (dpa/lsw) – Out of frustration about his professional situation, a trainee is said to have set fire to a workshop hall and caused damage of around two million euros. On Monday (9:00 a.m.) the 24-year-old will be tried before the Freiburg District Court for arson. According to a court spokesman, a verdict could be pronounced on the same day.
The public prosecutor accuses the man of having been increasingly frustrated at work. One night in early March 2021, he decided to set fire to the vehicle technology plant in Neuenburg am Rhein (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). He had a key to the workshop and lit fires in several places. Ultimately, the flames would have spread to the entire workshop hall, including equipment and machines.
