Bühl/Rheinau/Schwanau (dpa/lsw) – Unknown persons stole up to three tons of copper cables from a company in Rheinau (Ortenaukreis). They had previously stolen a van in Bühl (Rastatt district), the police said on Tuesday. The thieves transported their loot to the French border in a van on Monday night. According to the police’s previous findings, they loaded the copper cables worth around 10,000 euros into another car. The alleged perpetrators set the box van on fire near the border crossing at Schwanau (Ortenaukreis). The car, worth around 6,000 euros, was completely destroyed as a result. The police continue to investigate.
