Augsburg (dpa / lby) – Seven police officers in Swabia are said to have drunk alcohol while on duty. Disciplinary proceedings are therefore running against them, as a spokesman for the police headquarters in Swabia North in Augsburg said on Tuesday. The “Augsburger Allgemeine” had previously reported on it.
One of the seven officers at the Aichach Police Inspectorate (Aichach-Friedberg district) was suspended, according to the Bureau, because he is said to have committed a crime on duty regardless of alcohol consumption. The Augsburg public prosecutor’s office is investigating according to its own statements because of an initial suspicion. A spokesman did not give any further details because of the ongoing proceedings.
In January, other police officers reported to the department head of the Aichach police inspection that their colleagues were said to have drunk alcohol while working, the police spokesman said. Six of them were then released at short notice. They have since been transferred to another location.
