Anyone who disregards the applicable laws and gets caught will quickly find themselves in the dock. A look at the statistics reveals an interesting development.
Munich (dpa/lby) – In Bavaria, significantly fewer people were convicted by the criminal courts last year than in 2020. “Bavaria’s criminal courts convicted around 109,000 people last year,” said Justice Minister Georg Eisenreich (CSU) with a view to the 2021 criminal prosecution statistics , which he intends to present in Munich on Wednesday (10:00 a.m.).
In 2020, almost 117,000 people were legally convicted in Bavaria, including more than 82 percent men. In 2019, the number of people convicted was even higher at 121,250.
“In the law enforcement statistics, it is noticeable that in the second year of the pandemic the number of crimes on the street fell, while crimes on the Internet increased significantly,” Eisenreich told the German Press Agency in Munich in advance. The risk of becoming a victim of a serious crime in Bavaria is low.
“The police and judiciary are doing all they can to ensure that this remains the case. At the same time, I expect the Federal Minister of Justice to tackle important reforms in a timely manner,” stressed Eisenreich.
