Schwandorf (dpa / lby) – A chase in the Upper Palatinate ended in a forest fire. A drunk 54-year-old fled from a police check near Schwandorf on Tuesday night, the police said. After driving through the city, he lost control on a forest road and crashed his car into a tree. As he was hiding, his car caught fire and was completely burned out. A small forest fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished. The 54-year-old was unharmed. “The reason for the flight was probably his alcoholism,” said the police. Blood was drawn from him.
