Munich (dpa / lby) – A driving ban for old diesel vehicles came into force in Munich on Wednesday. In order to comply with the limit values ??for nitrogen dioxide, they are no longer allowed to drive on the Mittlerer Ring or in the city from the Euro 4 emissions standard onwards. There are exceptions for residents, craftsmen with a parking license, suppliers and employees in shift work or care work.
According to the environmental department, the EU limit of 40 micrograms of nitrogen dioxide per cubic meter of air was exceeded at two measuring points on the Mittlerer Ring last year: 49 micrograms were measured on Landshuter Allee – two micrograms less than in the previous year – and 43 on Tegernseer Landstraße, unchanged microgram.
The Autoclub Mobil in Germany announced lawsuits. One was already before the administrative court in Munich on Wednesday afternoon. The large-scale driving ban is disproportionate. “The immission values ??were all below the limit value in the last quarter, the trend is very positive, all values ??have improved by up to 50 percent in recent years,” said club president Michael Haberland.
The Munich driving ban is the result of a comparison between the city and the German Environmental Aid (DUH) and the German Traffic Club (VCD). They had sued the city for exceeding the limit.
If the value is still exceeded, the city wants to impose driving bans on Euro 5 diesel vehicles from October. They could be registered for the first time until August 2015, so some of them are not yet eight years old. If the limit values ??are still exceeded, the exceptions for residents and delivery traffic will no longer apply from April 2024.
According to the ADAC, there are diesel driving bans in Stuttgart and on certain roads in Darmstadt and Hamburg. Violations are therefore subject to a fine of between 25 and 75 euros in Hamburg and 108 euros in Stuttgart and Darmstadt.
