Munich (dpa / lby) – With a false alarm in the subway, a man in Munich triggered a major police operation. According to the police on Tuesday, the 78-year-old pressed the emergency brake late Monday evening while driving. He then contacted the driver over the intercom and claimed that there was someone in the car with a gun. Special police forces arrived and evacuated the train that was between the Karl-Preis-Platz and Innsbrucker Ring stations.
Finally, according to the information, it turned out that nobody in the subway car had had a weapon with them. The man who set off the alarm had previously been reported missing, police said. The officials took the 78-year-old to a psychiatric facility.
