Fürth (dpa / lby) – The rapid inflation of the past few months weakened somewhat towards the end of the year. In December, the annual inflation rate in Bavaria was 9.2 percent and thus significantly lower than in November (10.9 percent), as the State Statistical Office in Fürth announced on Tuesday.
Inflation is still being driven by energy prices. Heating oil prices have risen by 40.1 percent compared to December 2021, and gas has become 47 percent more expensive.
After the record prices in autumn, however, energy became a little cheaper again in December: According to the state office, heating oil cost 12.4 percent less in December than in November, petrol and diesel were 8.3 percent cheaper, and natural gas 39.8 percent.
