Mattsee (dpa / lby) – A pleasure boat ran aground on the Austrian Mattsee near Salzburg, whereupon 45 passengers and the captain had to be evacuated. The ship had collided with the stone near a beach at a shoal that was not recognizable due to the water level and could no longer be moved. The hull was also damaged and water entered. The 75-year-old captain therefore set the rescue chain in motion, after which the passengers from Lower Austria and the skipper from Flachgau were brought ashore by boat unharmed. As the police reported after the incident on Saturday, an alcohol test on the captain was negative.
