Munich (dpa / lby) – Because of the suspicion of bribery in registration and license plates for cars, investigators have searched ten objects in the Munich area. Prosecutors and police believe that several suspects have set up a bribery system to obtain vehicle registration certificates and license plates for criminal purposes over the years, police said on Thursday. Twelve people are being investigated, including several operators of registration services and employees of a technical testing organization in Munich.

The bribery system is said to have served, among other things, to circumvent the so-called obligation to present. Cars without a vehicle registration document from the manufacturer, which are to be registered in Germany for the first time, sometimes have to be shown on site. With the help of bribery, the suspects are said to have concealed the fact that many cars, including luxury cars, were abroad.

According to the police, more than 60 officers were involved in the search operation on Wednesday. The case had been investigated for more than a year beforehand. The investigation continued even after the search operation.
