Munich (dpa / lby) – Model Gloria Burkandt (23), the daughter of Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), is also flirting with politics. “Definitely for the future. I feel like it and I find it fascinating,” said the Munich native of the German Press Agency. But it will still take some time before that happens. “Now my father is the center of attention, and it should stay that way for the time being.”
Until then, Burkandt earns money as a model. She studied business management and is writing her doctoral thesis. Her interests include topics such as climate protection and sustainability, which she also traces back to her childhood. “I always had to do something out in nature, that grounded me,” she says. “That’s why I think it’s so important that you don’t take this basis away from people.”
She does not yet know where the young woman will be in a few years. “I want to combine everything a bit: politics, business, fashion. It’s the mix that makes the difference,” revealed Burkandt, who came from a previous relationship with Söder before the wedding with his current wife Karin Baumüller-Söder.
On the one hand, the fact that her father is prominent is helpful. But there are also downsides: “I get a lot of hate comments, mainly because of my father.” But she doesn’t care. “Sometimes people have so much anger and hatred inside them that you shouldn’t project that onto yourself.”
