Strullendorf (dpa / lby) – A dump truck got stuck on a bridge on the Autobahn 73 in Upper Franconia with the loading area extended. The front tires and the driver’s cab floated freely in the air, as the police announced on Tuesday. The 61-year-old driver dumped a load for a construction site on the A 73 near Strullendorf (Bamberg district) on Monday. It was initially unclear whether he had then forgotten to retract the loading area again or operated a lever incorrectly.

When driving back onto the highway, he got stuck in the bridge after just a few meters, as a police spokesman said. He was traveling slowly and there were no other vehicles behind him. The dump truck suffered damage of 25,000 euros. The damage to the bridge has not yet been quantified. Six onlookers were fined for photographing and filming the scene.
