Munich (dpa/lby) – According to IG Metall, 17,000 employees in 76 companies took part in warning strikes in the Bavarian metal and electrical industry on Friday. A good 11,000 of these were in Nuremberg. IG Metall district manager Johann Horn spoke of a “warning signal to employers” before the fourth collective bargaining. After the first week of the warning strike, he expects “a significantly improved, substantial offer” on Tuesday.
In the nationwide collective bargaining dispute, IG Metall is demanding eight percent more wages for a contract term of twelve months. Employers offered a one-off payment of 3,000 euros net for a period of 30 months, as well as an unspecified increase in the wage tables. The fourth collective bargaining for the 855,000 employees in Bavaria will take place on Tuesday (from 4 p.m.) in Munich.
