Munich (dpa/lby) – Table leaders TSV 1860 Munich want to continue their unbeaten series in the 3rd soccer league and get in the mood for the Oktoberfest with a success in the top game. “Now the Oktoberfest can start. But until then the focus should be on the sport,” emphasized “Löwen” coach Michael Köllner before the away game at second-placed SV Elversberg on Saturday (2 p.m.).
Köllner not only attested to the great strength of the promoted team from Saarland because of the victory in the DFB Cup against Bayer Leverkusen. “I don’t think it’s possible to play more at the top. It will be very difficult, but doable,” said the man from the Upper Palatinate. The 52-year-old expects a top football team in the newly promoted team: “You have to make sure that you get control of the game and keep control on the defensive”.
The “Lions” have to do without attacker Meris Skenderovic in addition to the long-term injuries. “He’s sick,” reported Köllner. Midfielder Tim Rieder is about to return to the starting XI after a red suspension.
