Augsburg (dpa / lby) – The Augsburg Panthers signed US striker Adam Johnson shortly before the start of the season in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). As the club announced on Monday, the 28-year-old comes from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms from the lower-class American Hockey League (AHL). Johnson played a total of 261 AHL games. He scored 51 goals and gave 88 assists.

“Adam Johnson is a fast and creative player who can be used in over or under numbers. With his speed and his skills he will do our offensive well,” said Panther coach Peter Russell. Johnson could appear for Augsburg on the first DEL matchday on Friday in Iserlohn.
