Regensburg (dpa/lby) – SSV Jahn Regensburg wants to continue its triumphal march in the 2nd Bundesliga and consolidate its position in the top half of the table with a home win against Hansa Rostock. “We want to take the momentum with us, score points at home again and take the fans with us who have given us outstanding support over the past few weeks,” said Jahn coach Mersad Selimbegovic before the duel with the North Germans on Saturday (1 p.m.).
After an interim low with six league games without a win, the Upper Palatinate have rehabilitated. Recently there have been two successes. “But we know that we’re not even halfway there for our season goal of 40 points, so it won’t do you any good if you don’t keep scoring,” said Selimbegovic, whose expiring contract is automatically extended by another season until June 30 extended to 2024.
The personnel situation is “not so good” before the duel with the four ranks lower placed North Germans, as the coach revealed. Midfielder Benedikt Gimber will be out until the winter break with a shoulder injury. An appearance by defenders Benedikt Saller (ankle problems) and Scott Kennedy (knee) was also doubtful on Thursday.
