Singer Vanessa Mai has to cope with the death of her grandfather. She makes no secret of how much this loss affects her. After all, she connects her “best childhood memories” with her grandfather, she says in an emotional message.
Vanessa Mai lost her grandfather. In an Instagram story, the singer writes about a picture with him: “Even if it’s life and Dido grew very old, it still feels like a piece of identity is breaking away. But I know that Baka and Dido are both now watching over us. In a beautiful place.”
The 30-year-old adds: “I always carry my best childhood memories with me. And, mom and dad: I love you.” In another post, Mai had previously explained – apparently addressed to her grandparents: “I love you and I thank you for my most beautiful childhood memories.”
Dido was Vanessa Mai’s nickname for her grandfather. Baka means grandma in Croatian. Mai’s grandmother had died a long time ago.
Under the post, many of the singer’s followers expressed their condolences, including several celebrities. Daniela Katzenberger commented on the message with three crying smileys. Singer Mike Singer and actor Tom Beck expressed their condolences.
For the documentary “Mai Time Is Now”, Vanessa Mai also shot in Croatia, where she visited her grandfather. The series, which appeared in October, accompanied the singer over a longer period of time, both professionally and privately.
At the beginning of November, Vanessa Mai announced on the “Giovanni Zarrella Show” that she would like to release new music with her band Wolkenfrei. With the formation, she had originally gained wider notoriety. A new and final album will be released next year. “Next year, exactly ten years ago, my path began (…) with Clouds Free. And on the occasion of this tenth anniversary, there will actually be a last Clouds Free album next year.”
