In statements to EFE, the chief patron of the Burela Brotherhood and president of the National Federation of Fishermen’s Guilds, José Basilio Otero, explained that the entire crew is safe and that there has only been material damage with the sinking of the ship.

The crew members were rescued from the life rafts by another ship that was in the vicinity of the scene and are being transferred to the Irish port of Castletownbere, where they will arrive in approximately 20 hours, according to Otero.

The ship has suffered a fire due to a short circuit and ended up sinking. The boat was in Irish waters where she fished for hake.
