Bad Soden-Salmünster/Offenbach (dpa/lhe) – After the accident involving a truck loaded with dangerous goods in the Main-Kinzig district, Autobahn 66 is free again. The blockage was lifted around 2.40 a.m. on Saturday night, as a police spokesman said in Offenbach in the morning. The truck had an accident on Friday on a bridge on the A66 near Bad Soden-Salmünster. The driver was injured and had to be taken to a hospital.

The freeway was completely closed in both directions after the accident. In addition to fuel, parts of the hazardous substance also leaked. Residents and other road users were asked to avoid the area and keep windows closed. A bike path under the bridge was also closed.

According to the police on Friday, the cause of the accident may have been a burst tire. The driver lost control and the truck overturned on its right side. The property damage was estimated at more than 100,000 euros.
