Kranenburg (dpa / lnw) – Arrest at the mailbox: When trying to get 60 drug shipments on their way, a suspect was arrested at a mailbox in Kranenburg on the German-Dutch border. Customs investigators had previously intercepted almost 1,000 mail items containing drugs within six weeks, seizing more than 50 kilograms of heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, ecstasy and marijuana, the Essen customs investigation office reported on Saturday.
All shipments had been dropped into various mailboxes in the city of Kranenburg in the district of Kleve. The investigators lay in wait and finally caught a 50-year-old Dutchman red-handed. He had previously smuggled the drugs across the border. The arrest had already taken place on June 8, and a judge had now issued an arrest warrant against the man.
