Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The assessment of people in need of care in Hessian homes and in the home environment for a possible upgrade of their care level should be accelerated. It had been agreed with the medical service that they would also offer assessments by telephone and video as far as possible, said Minister of Social Affairs Kai Klose (Greens) in Wiesbaden on Friday. The medical service will also expand its staff for this purpose.

The declared goal is to reduce the number of outstanding assessments as quickly as possible and to comply with the statutory processing times throughout the first half of 2023 at the latest, explained Klose. The minister cited the effects of the corona pandemic, the lack of staff and the increasing need for care as reasons for the long waiting times.
