Kassel (dpa/lhe) – A rear-end collision in Kassel caused the busy Autobahn 7 northbound to be temporarily blocked. The driver of a small van drove up to a semi-trailer truck driving ahead on Monday afternoon between the Kassel-Mitte junction and the Kassel-Ost junction for an unknown reason, as the police in Kassel announced. The 62-year-old driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 37-year-old truck driver was not injured.
The A7 towards the north could only be fully opened to traffic again at around 3.30 p.m. According to previous knowledge, the semitrailer was traveling very slowly in the right lane when the collision occurred. Whether he had a breakdown is the subject of the investigation, the police reported. The articulated lorry was secured and a technical report was prepared.
