Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) – Captain Fabian Holland has prematurely extended his contract with SV Darmstadt 98 until June 30, 2025. This was announced by the leader of the 2nd Bundesliga on Tuesday. “Fabi is not only a symbol of absolute loyalty to the club, but has also been active at a consistently high sporting level for many years,” said sporting director Carsten Wehlmann. “Since he is invaluable as captain and leading player in the dressing room, there was no question that we wanted to extend his contract early.”
Holland was loaned to Lilien by Hertha BSC in 2014/15 and has been playing for Südhessen ever since. The 32-year-old full-back has now played 259 competitive games for Darmstadt and has been captain since 2019. “Every coach would like to have a professional like Fabi in his squad. He leads the way on and off the field, is tactically flexible and helps to integrate new players,” praised coach Torsten Lieberknecht. “You can feel how much the club means to him and how much he feels connected to the lilies.”
