Heyrothsberge (dpa/sa) – Saxony-Anhalt’s rural districts and urban districts should be able to rely on drones for disaster control operations in the future. As announced by the Ministry of the Interior, Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU) handed over several unmanned aircraft systems to the municipalities on Tuesday. Zieschang explained that modern drones would provide emergency services with a valuable overview. “The associated time advantage in dealing with operational situations can save lives in an emergency.”
At the Heyrothsberge Institute for Fire Protection and Disaster Management, two drone operators from each district were trained in a two-day course. According to the information, all counties and independent cities now have a drone for civil protection. These are equipped with a modern camera system. The transmission of the image material can be used both to assess the current situation and to support the search for missing persons.
