Offenbach (dpa/lhe) – A fire caused damage of around 300,000 euros in an apartment building in the city center of Offenbach. No one was injured in the fire, police said on Wednesday. According to the fire brigade, the two adjacent buildings were also evacuated. A total of 25 residents were taken to safety and cared for on a bus because of the rain.
According to initial investigations, the fire broke out in an apartment on the first floor of the apartment building. From there, the flames spread to the facade. How the fire came about on Tuesday evening therefore remained open. The police initially assumed damage of half a million euros. Investigators later changed their statements.
