Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – A few days before the start of the trial against a former senior public prosecutor, the scope of the indictment has not yet been finally determined. The former head of a nationwide central office for combating property crimes and corruption in the health care system at the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office has to answer in court – together with another accused – from Friday.

The top lawyer is said to have given orders for expert opinions to an acquaintance and received a bribe for it. The official is accused of commercial bribery and tax evasion, the businessman commercial bribery and subsidy fraud. The allegation of breach of trust against the lawyer was separated before the main proceedings were opened – the responsible chamber ordered that further investigations must be carried out.

As the public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt reported to the dpa, these investigations were completed in December 2022. The public prosecutor assumes that the regional court will now make a new decision and possibly combine both parts of the procedure again. According to the regional court at the end of last week, it was still unclear when this decision would be made.
