Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – Mulled wine and lights: The Frankfurt Christmas market will open this Monday (5:05 p.m.). Before that, the glockenspiel of the Nikolaikirche on the Römerberg should create a pre-Christmas atmosphere. After that, the 31 meter high “Manni” Christmas tree with 4900 lights will be illuminated for the first time. The Frankfurt Christmas market is one of the oldest and largest in Germany.

Framed by the backdrop of the Römerberg and Paulskirche, more than 200 stands invite you to take a leisurely stroll until December 22nd. The Christmas market is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Around two million visitors are expected.

The opening will be carried out this year by Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg (Greens), who has taken over the duties of the deposed Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD).
