Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The state of Hesse wants to contribute millions to ensure that open-air festivals are maintained even after the end of the compulsory break caused by corona. In the new edition of the “Ins Freie! 2” program, a total of 51 open-air festivals are supported with 4.3 million euros, as the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art announced on Wednesday. These include subsidies for mobile stages and sound technology or roofing.

Another focus is on events in rural areas, which benefit from at least a quarter of the funding. There is also an additional sum of 300,000 euros for open-air cinemas.
