Mengerskirchen (dpa/lhe) – Mortar shells from the Second World War were found during excavation work in Mengerskirchen in the Limburg-Weilburg district and were later defused. A contractor called the police after the discovery on Thursday morning, they said on Friday. Because the nearest residential buildings were far enough away, the emergency services decided not to evacuate. About two hours later, the explosive ordnance clearance service defused the grenades and disposed of the remains.
